As the world begins to emerge from COVID-19, architecture, engineering, and construction must adapt to a new future of building.
During the past few months, the COVID-19 pandemic has called on the flexibility and resiliency of the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, and the response has been encouraging: In many cases, teams were able to work remotely, thanks to collaboration tools, cloud-based software, and a willingness to embrace a reality that was once unimaginable.
Now, as governments around the world begin to allow nonessential businesses to reopen, the industry will continue to call on these skills as it adapts to the new future of building.
For example, companies will need to reimagine how their teams will work going forward, leveraging remote-collaboration opportunities, as well as creating alternate work schedules and sometimes staggering arrivals and departures. As nonessential businesses prepare to return to the workplace, they must also rethink the layout and use of existing spaces so that employees and customers can safely inhabit them.
